PROJECT: LUXURY KNX SHOWROOM // INTEGRATOR: ATELIER LUUXX
Brief
To help clients better understand the possibilities of smart building technology, Atelier Luuxx created a luxury KNX showroom in Leeds as part of a commercial renovation project completed in 2025.
Designed in collaboration with a leading interior designer, the showroom was developed as a practical demonstration space for homeowners, architects, developers, and design professionals. Rather than showcasing individual products, the objective was to create a fully functioning environment where visitors could experience how intelligent building systems operate together in everyday scenarios.
The space also serves as a venue for client consultations, CPD sessions, and industry events, helping to educate specifiers and end users on the benefits of open-standard building control.
Solution
KNX was selected as the foundation of the installation, providing a single platform for managing multiple building functions throughout the showroom.

The system integrates lighting control, heating, shading, access control, intercom functionality, and entertainment systems, all accessible through intuitive Ekinex keypads and touch panels. Visitors can interact with pre-programmed scenes, automated routines, and centralised controls to see how different systems can work together seamlessly.
A particular focus of the project was demonstrating the versatility of KNX across both new-build and retrofit applications. To achieve this, the existing heating infrastructure was incorporated into the control system using KNX RF technology, showcasing how intelligent automation can be added without extensive rewiring.
The showroom also demonstrates the flexibility of the KNX standard through the use of TP, RF, and IP communication, highlighting how different transmission methods can be combined within a single installation.
Benefits
As a live demonstration environment, the showroom provides a clear understanding of what sets KNX apart from proprietary smart building systems.
Visitors can experience how a single open-standard platform enables consistent control across multiple building functions, regardless of manufacturer. This not only simplifies operation for the end user but also provides greater design flexibility for architects, developers, and system integrators.
The project also highlights the scalability of KNX. Whether applied to a single room, a luxury residence, or a commercial building, the same infrastructure can expand alongside changing requirements, making it a long-term solution rather than a fixed technology investment.
By incorporating both wired and wireless KNX technologies, the showroom further demonstrates how intelligent control can be achieved in renovation projects where traditional installation methods may not be practical.
Result
The completed showroom has become a valuable resource for both clients and industry professionals looking to explore intelligent building control in a real-world setting.

By allowing visitors to interact directly with KNX-powered systems, the space transforms what can often be a technical discussion into a practical and engaging experience. Clients can see, touch, and understand how automation enhances comfort, convenience, and building performance before making decisions on their own projects.
For Atelier Luuxx, the showroom provides an effective platform for demonstrating best practice in smart building design while promoting the wider adoption of KNX across residential and commercial developments. The result is a space that not only showcases technology but actively helps shape the future of intelligent building control.
